yep blame the army. It was the ppl that voted in the election and the polititions created the situation. the army was left with the mess and followed the centuries old scorched earth tactic.

Forgiveness or closure will come after the population of Pakistan acknowlegde atrocities of Pak army and the responsible are tried. By the the way many Bangladeshis including me are greatful for Indian contribution in our Liberation war. If you follow recent news from Bangladesh there are some acknowledgement from arny chief in this regard on his trip to India.

Giving slogan like 'Pakistan Zindabad' will not take you nowhere. See what your army who killed 300,000 or so in Bangladesh, is doing to your country. Their sin (in 1971) is hunting back Pakistan. Four suicide bombing in last five days, 500 got killed in this year in terrorist attack - come man, open your eyes. If you love your Pakistan, then call for justice, call for the killers to be tried.

Yes, I call Pakistanies and in that sense Indians or any other people my brothers. Do I hate the killers (Pak army and colaborators)? Of course I do. I also deplore consenting Pak civilians for not protesting. Politicians like Bhutto was also responsible for it. But even then innocent Pakistanis are my brothers.

The rape of 200,000 bangla women in 1970-71 is a historical fact. But why do these forums degenerate into such uncivilised name calling. i am proud of indira gandhi and india's role in helping liberate bangladesh.howver that is in the past and this indian wishes only the very best for pakistan as it is in our best interests to have a stable, democratic and prosperous neighbour.

The call for forgiveness for ordinary Pakistanis is very encouraging. We all must learn to forgive even if we cannot forget. Lack of acknowledgment on the part of Govt. of Pakistan of its despicable actions is disturbing. But as an Indian I also find it disturbing that there is little thanks on the part of Bangladeshis for the service rendered to their Nation by India and its Armed Forces without which Bangladesh would have simply remained a dream and the nightmare would have continued.

It is naive to say the people are okay,it is the army which is bad. i am sorry, whether it is the nazis or pakistanis, A SIGNIFICANT PROPORTION OF THE POPULATION, AT THAT TIME, SUPPORTED OR WERE INDIFFERENT TO THESE CRIMES.I am very proud of the Indian effort to help liberate B'desh with the muktibahini.
