Furtado won the national bluegrass banjo contest in 1987 and 1991. Then he switched to guitar. He and Phish's drummer Jon Fishman had not played together before. Pretty amazing.

Whooley's throat singing is real, taught to him by genuine tuvans. Fishman may have been faking it, though I'm sure there is some authenticity to his throat sounds as well.

It's Tuvan throat singing, the Flecktones had a guy named Kongar on Outbound who was a throat singer, check it out. I'm not sure if this guy is really doing it or sorta fakin' it. Tony Furtado kicks ass!
