Orwell was nothing but a cheap police spy - worked for British Intelligence providing lists of Communists - yes and its well documented.

Orwell's book is the best source.I admire and respect the Americans who fought with the Intl Brigades against fascism but Stalin's crimes against the rival leftist groups, such as the anarchists, shouldn't be forgotten. The POUM is still referred to as Trotskyist, which is untrue.

You say "Stalin used". The word "used" implies a substantial degree of control. What was the mechanism of this supposed control? Sounds far fetched, to me. The proposition that Stalin wanted to sabotage the workers' state is also new. Isn't there a brief, accurate history somewhere?

Irony-Stalin used the Intl. Brigades to overthrow the proletariat revolution in Spain and supress the socialists, anarchist and "renegade"Marxist militias who'd established a workers state.See Orwell's Homage to Catalonia. What a tragedy!
